Top Major Exported Products Of Vietnam In Recent Years
There are 27 items with export turnover of over 1 billion USD recent years. Specifically, phones and components, electronics, computers, machinery, textile, and footwear are considered top exported products about export volume and value.
1. top major exported products of Vietnam in 2021
In 2020, despite being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the export turnover of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 48.6% compared to 2019, reaching 27.19 billion USD; contributed 48.4% to the growth of the country’s general merchandise exports.
In the first 7 months of 2021, there are 27 items with export turnover of over 1 billion USD, accounting for 90.2% of total export turnover (5 export items of over 10 billion USD, accounting for 57.8%) of which phones and components have the largest export turnover, reaching 29.4 billion USD, accounting for 15.8% of total export turnover, up 11.9% over the same period last year; electronics, computers and components reached 27.4 billion USD, up 16.5%.
Specifically, the turnover of each products as below:
- Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached USD 19.7 billion, up 55.4%
- Textiles and garments reached USD 18.6 billion, up 14.1%
- Footwear reached 12.1 billion USD, up 27.7%;
- Wood and wood products reached 9.5 billion USD, up 53.7%;
- Means of transport and spare parts reached 6.5 billion USD, up 48.5%.
In July 2021, Vietnam export turnover of this group of goods was at 23.15 billion USD. It was up only 0.9% over June 2021. Moreover, it was 9.1% over the same period in 2020. Generally, in 7 months of 2021, the export turnover of processed industrial products still maintained a high growth rate. It was at 27.9% over the same period in 2020. It is at 159.12 billion USD, and accounting for 85.85% of the total Vietnam export.
This growth momentum came from key exported products of the group such as:
– Vietnam phones and components increased by 11.9%;
– Computers, electronic products and components by 16.5%;
– Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 55.4%;
– Vietnam wood and wood products increased by 53.7%
2. Strong increase of some products
Vietnam exports of textiles and footwear continued to maintain a recovery momentum with a growth rate of more than double digits. Specifically, figures are as below:
– Textiles and garments increased by 14.1%;
– Footwear of all kinds increased by 27.7%;
– Curtain fabrics, other technical fabrics increased by 86.7%;
– Fibers, textile yarns of all kinds increased 62.8% .
Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts are products of Vietnam’s key export items. According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the period 2016-2020, Vietnam’s export turnover of this product increased sharply. These products are still in List of top major exported products of Vietnam.
3. Expectation for products export of Vietnam whole 2021
In 2020, despite the Covid-19 epidemic, the export turnover of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 48.6% compared to 2019. It was reaching 27.19 billion USD, and contributing 48.4% to the growth of Vietnam.
In the first 6 months of 2021, the export of machinery of Vietnam still maintained good. It surpassed textiles and garments to become the third largest export item of Vietnam (after mobile phones, components, computers, electronic products). Generally, it reached 17.10 billion USD, up 64.1% over the same period in 2020.
The export of other machinery and spare parts is increasingly contributing more and more to the total export turnover of Vietnam. In 2016, it only accounted for 5.7% of the total export turnover of Vietnam. By 2020, it accounted for 9.6%. Moreover, in the first 6 months of 2021, this number increased to 10.8%.
Export growth of machinery of Vietnam of foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) is still the main driving force. This force is contributing to the overall export growth of this item. However, in recent years, Vietnam enterprises 100% domestic capital have contributed much more to the export turnover.
